Eid Update

I saw a bunch of family photos posted today, yesterday, on Eid days. On Eid weeks.

Cousins, my old friends, the one from college, the one from high school, that co-worker from my first job.

For many, this is the time they get to gather with their fam.

For many, this is the moment they've waited for the most.

For me, I will patiently wait to witness this moment again next year,

to meet those whom I rarely catch up with.

The loneliest time of the year

As Ramadan comes to an end and Eid is just hours away, I can’t help but feel a little lonely.

This is the time when people gather with their families.
This is the time when they put their gadgets away.
This is the time… when my inbox sits in silence.
I feel isolated from society, from all of my friends.

This is the time when all that togetherness seems to leave me behind,
just as we return to our routines.

Ramadan brings so many moments of connection,
yet they disappear as quickly as the month itself.

May Allah keep our faith and health,
until the next Ramadan.
